Authoritative sources
The provider's own website is the required source for a directory listing. We do not use Google Business profiles, review platforms, data brokers, social-profile aggregators or lead lists as the factual basis for a listing. Government and university sources are used for public guidance articles, not to evaluate companies.
Inclusion rules
A listing is eligible when an official provider website establishes both (1) tree-related work and (2) service in Knoxville or an explicitly stated nearby Knoxville-area community. Forestry mulching or land clearing may appear as its own category when the provider connects that work to Knoxville. Inclusion is free.
What is excluded
- Businesses without a working, identifiable official website.
- Providers whose own source does not establish the relevant service or area.
- Unrelated lawn, construction or utility businesses without a homeowner-relevant tree service.
- Copied photos, reviews, ratings, review counts, owner posts, popularity data, third-party emails or employee details.
- Claims about price, quality, availability, licensing, insurance or credentials that cannot be responsibly represented from the authoritative source.
Writing and verification
Listing summaries are original, neutral descriptions of the services and coverage stated on the linked website. A verification date records the last manual source check. It does not guarantee that a provider is open, available, qualified for a specific hazard or unchanged after that date. Readers must confirm current details.
Emergency labels
“Emergency service advertised” appears only when the provider's website explicitly promotes emergency tree work or emergency availability. The label does not promise round-the-clock staffing, a response time or current availability.
Ordering and advertising
The default order is alphabetical. “Recently verified” is an optional date sort. No quality score is calculated, no business is designated “best” or “cheapest,” and no provider can pay to change its order. Advertising may support this publication but is separated from listing inclusion and editorial decisions.
Review cycle and corrections
The complete dataset is scheduled for review at least twice each year. Reports of broken links, changed services or incorrect descriptions are checked against authoritative evidence between review cycles. The provider verification log records the last full review, source-availability checks and held or removed entries. See Corrections and listing claims to submit a report.
How original tools and guides are produced
Homeowner tools are written and coded by the publisher to help visitors create a consistent scope, compare proposal documentation and record ground-level observations. They do not rank providers or diagnose trees. Knoxville guidance uses direct government, utility, university and professional sources, which are linked on the relevant page with access dates. The publisher identifies the practical decision the source supports, avoids copying its wording and states where an onsite professional or responsible authority must decide.
Directory entries are present in the initial HTML. Client-side code only searches, filters, sorts and paginates those visible records; it does not fetch hidden profiles or generate listings from third-party data.
